FastGrasp documentation

Save the source. Find the useful parts. Keep track of what you have actually read.

Last checked: October 9, 2026. The connector release is live in production. Setup availability depends on your AI app and workspace; the public ChatGPT listing is still unfinished.

Get started in the web app

  1. Open FastGrasp and sign in to your own account.
  2. Paste a YouTube video link into the add-video form, or find a video through search.
  3. Wait for processing to finish. Open the saved video from your library to read its summary and transcript.

A saved item can still be processing or unavailable. Captions and extraction depend on the source video; restricted, deleted, or unavailable videos may fail. Do not treat an empty transcript as a complete source.

Read, search, and study

Use the summary to scan the main ideas, then inspect the transcript for the original wording. Search within a transcript to find a passage and use available timestamps to return to the video. Library search helps you find saved material. Use quizzes to check recall and available audio controls to listen to a summary.

AI summaries can omit context or make mistakes. Verify important claims against the transcript and original video. A complete stored transcript does not prove complete coverage of the original recording.

Connector availability

Production release verified. ChatGPT and Claude both passed live owner-account tests: authorization, listing and search, two complete stored transcripts, a selected two-item export, and an authenticated download with independent integrity checks. These bounded tests do not establish whole-library capacity or testing with a second independent production user.

ClientLive FastGrasp connection
ChatGPTOwner connection verified. Private plugin access is limited; public listing and general self-service setup remain unfinished.
ClaudeOwner connection verified. Custom connector setup is available for testers whose account supports it.
Grok BotDeferred; no live connection verified.

Set up your connection

  1. Open FastGrasp's connection settings, also available through Profile → Connect AI apps, for the server URL and registered public client settings.
  2. For Claude, open Customize → Connectors and add a custom connector named FastGrasp. Enter https://app.fastgrasp.ai/api/mcp, choose Use your own OAuth client, copy the Claude client ID from FastGrasp's settings, and leave the client secret blank.
  3. For ChatGPT, use the existing private FastGrasp plugin if it is available in your account or workspace. A new custom connection requires the FastGrasp operator to register the exact callback shown by ChatGPT. Copying an existing public client ID alone does not install or share the plugin.
  4. Choose Connect, sign in to your own FastGrasp account with your usual Google login, and review library read and YouTube export permissions. Enable FastGrasp in your AI app's chat and confirm the connection there.

Signing in to an AI app alone does not connect your library. Use your own account and the secure consent screen; do not share passwords or tokens. Access approved in FastGrasp does not by itself confirm the AI app is connected.

Saved YouTube retrieval

The connector is designed for your saved YouTube library. It does not add imports of articles, PDFs, podcasts, or uploaded files.

Example requests after a verified connection: “Find my saved YouTube transcripts about customer interviews” and “Read my three most recently saved YouTube videos; tell me if any are still processing.”

Selected and whole-library export

Durable export jobs capture the full stored content of selected YouTube items, items saved in a date range, the most recently saved items, or your whole non-trashed YouTube library. The selection is recorded when the job starts. Selected two-item exports were verified in both owner-account clients; whole-library production capacity has not been established.

  1. Specify the selection and approve export access.
  2. Keep the job reference while it progresses. Resume the same job after an interruption rather than starting duplicates.
  3. Inspect the manifest for every selected item, including processing, unavailable, or failed items. Retry eligible failures or cancel unwanted work.
  4. Finish preparation through the connector. The export page shows status and downloads completed jobs; it does not prepare the job itself. When construction finishes, download the authenticated JSONL file. It contains structured records; it is not a spreadsheet or a summary.

Limits: selected exports accept up to 200 requested IDs. Whole-library and date selections above 10,000 items are refused rather than truncated. Source-size, job, and usage limits can also produce explicit failures. Connector call limits are 120 per client per minute and 240 per account per minute; wait and resume the same job when throttled.

A finished export does not mean your AI client read every record. Ask it to report which items and parts it read, what remains, and any omissions. Export completion, client reading, and AI analysis are separate outcomes. Large files may exceed a model's context even when the file itself is complete.

Permissions, privacy, and revocation

Connector access is tied to your account and the specific client. Read permission allows retrieval; export permission separately allows private export jobs and artifacts. Export operations change job state, not your saved source items. Review storage and retention disclosures in the consent screen before approving.

New consent can keep access active until you revoke it. Existing time-limited grants keep their expiry until you explicitly approve new consent. Use Profile → Connect AI apps to revoke a client's access; revocation stops subsequent retrieval and export access. Export artifacts expire after 24 hours. Renewing consent does not make an old grant's artifacts accessible. Files already downloaded into another app remain with that app; manage or delete those copies there. Your AI app may still ask for tool approvals separately.

Never paste passwords, API keys, or access tokens into a chat. Use the secure sign-in and consent screens. See the privacy policy for broader data handling.
